Durham Storm FC is a Canadian professional soccer club based in Oshawa, Ontario. The team plays its home games at Durham Regional Stadium. We are in Canada’s only professional soccer league. The Canadian Professional Soccer League (CPSL) was founded in 1987 as a semi-professional men’s outdoor soccer league and has been operating continuously since then. In the summer of 2003, the CPSL merged with Major League Soccer as a member of its “MLS Select” program for prospective MLS markets.

Durham Storm FC was founded by the Durham Region Soccer Association (DRSA) and played its first season in 2002 as part of the Canadian Professional Soccer League.

In 2004, the CPSL expanded into women’s soccer by creating two separate leagues: one for professionals and another for amateurs. These have now grown to four leagues: three amateur levels – Super Division 1st Division 2nd Division Premier Division – and one professional level, named National Premiere Soccer League or NPSL Pro which includes teams from Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada. In order to build a stronger foundation for the league, the CPSL / CSA decided to form a team from its own backyard which would be able to compete in both domestic and international tournaments. Durham Storm was established as an independent club that includes youth teams from under-11 through under-19, junior-level women’s player development, and an open-age men’s team, Durham Storm FC.

Durham Storm FC plays its home games at Oshawa Civic Stadium and the team is coached by Tony De Thomas and led by President and Vice-President: David Ferguson and Kevin Grant respectively. The year 2011 was an extremely successful one for the organization as it managed to win both League.

In 2013, DRSA again revived the club, this time as an independent entity outside of league administration, and renamed it Durham United Football Club (DUFC). Presently, we are the only team that has its own stadium.
